jean routhier at sound console vams-spksloc-elevation

Jean Routhier has been composing audio collages, acousmatic compositions, noisy pestillence, sonic manipulations since the ealy 1990’s. Mesmerized by the magic tape editing – with a focus on sound rather than waveform display – Routhier pursued his own abstract approach to music, far from his youth’s piano studies.

His wide interests has led him to do location sound for documentaries, voice-over recording, sound design as well as provide support for artists and galleries needing specific system design & implementation for multi-channel and interactive installations, and regularly provide sound reinforcement for concerts.

His first professional gigs were at the Oscar Peterson Hall, Montreal, QC, and he presently holds the position of resident technician with Simon Fraser University’s Cultural Unit Department. Have no fear, this space cadet can keep it together, because when s@!T hits the fan he’s a hack zen master!
